How do I control a boat?
Boats use a throttle system — unlike vehicles, you do not need to hold the key once the throttle is set.
- W / S — throttle forward / reverse
- A / D — steer left / right
- Z — engage / disengage anchor
- F — board boat (approach from the rear)

How does the anchor system work?
Boats come from the trader with an anchor system deployed. Anchors prevent your boat from drifting away. You must be in the driver's seat with the boat unlocked to interact with the anchor. Press Z to engage or disengage.
How do I lock my boat?
Lock your boat with a MCK key. Boats cannot be covered with a camo net like other vehicles — lock and anchor it when not in use. You’ll need to leave it docked somewhere since boats cannot be stored in a base.
My boat didn’t appear after I bought it — what happened?
Don’t worry — boats spawn on the sea floor and float to the surface. It may take a moment to appear after purchase.
Can I sell my boat back to the trader?
No. Because boats move while floating and spawn on the sea floor, they cannot be sold back to the trader. Boats are buy only.
Do boats take weapon damage?
No. Boats do not take weapon damage. They do require engine oil, which is available at the boat trader.
What happens if I leave my boat beached or at a trader?
What issues will admins not provide support for?
Boats are use-at-your-own-risk. Admin tools generally don’t work well with water situations. Zero support is provided for:
- Forgetting to set an anchor and the boat drifting away
- Boat randomly despawning or losing items stored inside
- Dropping an item into the water
- Flipping boats
- Damaged boat or damaged boat parts
- Forgetting where you docked your boat
- Boat gone after a server restart or crash while out at sea
- Running out of fuel in the middle of the water
- Buying a boat by mistake
- Beached boats
- Losing items from dying in the water

How do I clear my DayZ cache?
Go to:
Delete the crash logs, RPT files, mdmp files, error logs, and script logs. You may need to enable viewing hidden folders in Windows to see AppData.
Why are items despawning in my base?
Items protected by a flag will show a flag icon next to their name and persist over server restarts. Items without the flag icon may despawn when players move too far away or on restart. Ruined items always despawn regardless of flag protection.
What happens if I get stuck behind a DNA vault door?
If you get trapped behind a vault door, you will need to press F11 or wait until the server restarts and the vault door resets.
How do I build a flag pole and why is it important?
Build your flag first before anything else. Bases without flags will despawn. It takes 10 days for a flag to fully lower. Once it reaches 0, base items start despawning. Keep your flag raised at all times.
How many helicopters can I store?
Helicopter storage capacity is listed as 15 helicopters.
What is the mod blacklist?
Your uploaded body content did not include the actual blacklist entries, only the category header. Add your blacklist list back into this section if you still have it saved elsewhere.
How do I change my in-game name in DayZ?
- DZSA Launcher: go to Settings and change the Ingame Name field.
- Official DayZ Launcher: Parameters > All Parameters > Profile Name.
- Steam launch option: use -name=YourName.
How do I fix PBO errors in DayZ?
PBO errors are usually caused by outdated mods.
- Open the DZSA Launcher
- Go to Settings
- Click Verify All Steam Workshop Mods
- Restart Steam, then restart the launcher if needed
- Check the Mods tab for any Update Pending notices
What recording software should I use for DayZ?
Use instant replay software such as NVIDIA Shadowplay, AMD ReLive, Medal.tv, or Steam’s built-in recording. These use minimal storage until you save a clip. Recording is strongly encouraged, especially for PVE players, because it provides evidence for staff and helps in disputes.
How do I secure a tent on PVE servers?
Build a fence or BBP door in front of the tent entrance and lock it. The tent itself does not need to be locked since the door blocks access.
What happens if I get stuck behind a vault door?

How do I store vehicles to prevent despawning?
Vehicles left outside a Vehicle Garage will despawn within 5 days. Use the Expansion Vehicle Garage and purchase an ExpansionParkingMeterKit plus ExpansionCircuitBoard_MK1 from the Vehicle Trader.
Garages can only be placed inside a territory. The limit is 15 stored vehicles per territory.
How does RAG workbench crafting work?
Your uploaded body content only preserved the category header, not the actual RAG crafting instructions. Add your original recipe / workbench steps here if you still have them.
How do vehicle keys work on The Wall?
Buy a key from the vehicle trader, approach the vehicle with the key in hand, and use the assign key option.
How do I duplicate my vehicle key?
All vehicle traders have an adjacent Grinder for duplicating keys.
- Hold your assigned key in hand
- Approach the grinder next to any Vehicle Trader
- Choose the Duplicate Key option
- This damages the original key — that is expected
- Each key can be duplicated twice to produce two pristine keys
- Your new keys will be on the ground by the grinder — remember to pick them up
- Repeat as needed
